30.04.2010 ... Migration of Profit Controller applications completed

Apex Optimisation recently completed a site-wide project to migrate all of the APP node based MVC applications (using Honeywell's Profit Suite Rel205) to the new Experion PKS based advanced application servers (EAS).  The migration also included an upgrade to Profit Suite Rel300.

The applications migrated included nine Profit Controller MVC applications, as well as six Profit Sensor Pro soft sensor applications.  Most of the AM CL based custom logic required for the applications was migrated to URT SDK custom toolkits.  These toolkit functions were embedded in each MVC application platform in order to provide improved customisation and reduce system load

01.03.2010 ... Customer Seminars in Italy, UK and Australia Complete Release of GDOT 2.0

The release of GDOT 2.0 has been followed up by training seminars in Italy, UK and Australia, where the new features of our patent pending GDOT software were presented. Each of the three seminars were attended by 10-12 current or prospective users of GDOT.

30.10.2009 ... GDOT 2.0 Released

Apex Optimisation is pleased to introduce version 2.0 of our unique Generic Dynamic Optimisation Technology package (GDOT, patent pending).  GDOT 2.0 includes a variety of new features that will make it even easier for process control engineers to built dynamic real time optimisation applications that really work.

06.07.2009 ... Successful Implementation of first Australian GDOT Optimiser

The first patent pending GDOT Optimiser application in Australia, used to coordinate up to three MVC applications, has been successfully implemented at an alumina refinery.

Apex Optimisation was asked to assist in providing a solution to a traditionally tough problem of improving precipitation solids content control.  Various technologies were considered, and patent pending GDOT was chosen for the following reasons:

·         Not all the handles were close loop controlled

·         Entire scope of problem was not 'under MVC control'

·         Typical MVC based modelling approach was not flexible enough to model problem

·         Only certain subsections of existing MVC applications formed part of optimisation problem

Using the patent pending GDOT Optimiser technology enabled the project team to provide a solution that was very flexible to address all the challenges above.  The implementation of the solution required a significant change in operating philosophy, but this had been well-embedded with the control room personnel with thorough training as part of the commissioning exercise.

The trial of the patent pending GDOT Optimiser application was deemed a success, following a reduction in the standard deviation of the precipitation solids content and a better way to envisage the manual changes required to achieve the various targets.
